In his publication, the newly appointed director of the Museum of Arab Art in Cairo, Max Herz, gives a description of the collection. A considerable part is dedicated to stucco and glass windows. As in his previous publication (see IG_161), Herz details the technique of the windows, describes the process of carving the cast stucco at an angle, the breaking of the glass, and the fixing of the pieces by means of glue and a second layer of stucco. A photograph of a specimen from the museum’s collection illustrates the description. Herz does not specify where the qamariyya showing a vase comes from, but states that it is almost 200 years old (early 12th century AH / 18th CE) (Herz, 1902, p. 53).
