    Description

    Vitrail rectangulaire représentant au centre d’un cadre architectural un blason armorié surmonté d’un heaume empanaché avec en cimier un buste d’homme, flanqué à droite d’une femme en armure portant un étendard. Dans la partie supérieure se trouve deux scènes : à gauche la décapitation d’Holopherne par Judith sous les yeux de sa servante agenouillée et à droite des soldats israélites sortant de Béthulie pour attaquer les troupes assyriennes. Le soubassement figure un cartouche avec une inscription du donateur entre deux putti musiciens.

    Ce vitrail aux armes inconnues (Harzer ?) est probablement une copie d'un panneau héraldique du XVI-XVIIe siècle dont le modèle est inconnu à ce jour. De provenance inconnue, il a rejoint la collection du Musée d’art et d’histoire de Genève avant 1994 mais les sources manquent pour attester avec certitude de sa date d’entrée.
