History

Research

Gustave Le Bon does not say to which mosque in Cairo this stucco and glass window belonged. An analogous window, but with a vase of flowers instead of the geometric pattern, is published in F. R. Martin’s Collection from the Orient at the General Art and Industry Exhibition in Stockholm, 1897 (IG_405) and is now in Stockholm (IG_166). The flower and star motif is widespread, and a very similar example can be found in The Metropolitan Museum in New York (IG_186).
