    L'attribution à la verrerie de Monthey se fait sur la base du dessin N° 258 de la planche 29 du catalogue "Verrerie de Monthey", 1910 (Geiselberger, 2014, p. 3 et 44). De nombreux autres documents liés à la verrerie de Monthey ont été publiés par Siegmar Geiselberger dans Pressglas-Korrespondenz (Geiselberger, 2014).

    Le verre opale (opaline) est rendu opaque par l’adjonction d’oxyde d’étain, d’oxyde d’antimoine et d’arsenic. Il était en vogue au XIXe siècle, non seulement dans l’art du vitrail, mais aussi pour les objets en verre (Trublard/Bey, 2010, p. 21; Kaiser, 2020, p. 30).
