    Das 1609 erbaute Haus Reding in Schwyz wurde durch Rudolf von Reding renoviert, teils unter der Leitung des Basler Architekten Fritz Stehlin (1861–1923). Im Zuge dieser umfangreichen Baumassnahmen wurden ab 1892 in den beiden Schattenhäuschen einfache Ornamentscheiben, im Festsaal sechs qualitätsvolle Architekturscheiben und in der sogenannten Schnitzkammer heraldisch interessante Rundscheiben mit den Wappen Reding, von Bonstetten und von Sonnenberg (SZ_59, SZ_60, SZ_61) eingelassen. Ursprünglich befand sich die vorliegende Lünette im südwestlichen Schattenhäuschen. Eine identisch gestaltete Ornamentscheibe, heute fragmentarisch erhalten, befand sich im südöstlichen Schattenhäuschen. Die Scheibe wird genannt in: Hasler et al., 2020, S. 134.
