    Zwischen aufgetürmten Waffentrophäen steht in einer Rocailletartsche das ovale, gevierte Allianzwappen unter zwei angeschnittenen Helmzierden. Am unteren Rand schliesst sich die querovale Inschriftkartusche an.

    Wappen Montenach-Odet: Geviert, 1 und 4 eine Spitze, belegt mit einer bezweigten Rose, 2 und 3 ein steigender Löwe, in den Pranken ein Füllhorn haltend; Herzschild: mit Schildrand gespalten mit einem Pfahl; Spangenhelme; Helmdecke; Helmzier: rechts über einem Wulst ein geteilter Flug, links über einem Wulst ein wachsender Löwe mit dem Füllhorn in den Pranken.

    Research

    Claude Joseph von Montenach wurde 1665 als Sohn des Joseph Johann Niklaus und der Elisabeth Gobet geboren und war damit Bruder von Franz Niklaus (FR_332). Seit etwa 1690 war er mit Maria Barbara Beatrix Odet von Freiburg (*1672) verheiratet. Die Tochter von Johann Heinrich Odet (1640–1706) und Maria Franziska Ursula Wild (vgl. FR_398) schenkte ihrem Mann 15 Kinder und setzte am 27.11.1755 ihr Testament auf (StAF RN 603, fol. 62). Ihr Todesdatum ist unbekannt. 1693 wurde Claude Joseph von Montenach in den Grossen Rat gewählt, 1701–1706 war er Vogt von Vaulruz, 1707 Direktor des Grossen Spitals, 1720 Sechziger, 1736 Heimlicher und 1746–1749 Venner des Burgquartiers. Er starb 1754. Der Stifter gehört ebenfalls zu jenem Familienzweig Montenach, der das Kaenel-Wappen führt (vgl. VMR_222_FR_332, VMR_221_FR_338).
