    Auf den Vornamen Wolfgang lautende Angehörige der Familie von Bonstetten sind aus dem 17. Jahrhundert lediglich zwei bekannt. Davon wurde der Jüngere 1674 geboren, womit er als Stifter der Scheibe ausser Betracht fällt. Der Ältere der beiden lebte von 1637–1715. Er war der Stammvater des sogenannten Zweiges von Sinneringen. Seit 1668 in Bern mit Katharina von Wattenwyl verheiratet, wurde er dort 1673 Mitglied des Grossrats (HBLS 2/1924, S. 308). Sofern er der Scheibenstifter war, muss er 1657 im Alter von 20 Jahren das Burgerrecht der Stadt Bern (vgl. Stifterinschrift) bereits besessen haben.

    Von welchem Berner Glasmaler dieses schlichte, kleine Rundscheibchen geschaffen wurde, lässt sich beim gegenwärtigen Kenntnisstand nicht schlüssig beantworten.
