Research

Niklaus von Diesbach (2.8.1722–Mai 1782) war ein Sohn des Niklaus und der Anna Margaretha May. Am 3. Januar 1746 heiratete er im waadtländischen Loins Anna Katharina von Wattenwyl (* 8.12.1727), die Tochter des Ferdinand von Wattenwyl und der Johanna Katharina von Mülinen. Er erwarb daraufhin 1748 von seinem Neffen Johann Rudolf von Diesbach den Landsitz Sinneringen. Niklaus von Diesbach gelangte 1755 in den Grossen Rat zu Bern und amtete 1764–1770 als Landvogt zu Oron. 1782 wurde er zum Vogt von Oberhofen gewählt, starb aber noch vor seinem Amtsantritt (HBLS 2/1924, S. 713; Kessel 2016). Die Grisaillescheibe ist ganz in der Art der damaligen beliebten Schliffscheiben komponiert und weist enge stilistische Bezüge zu Samuel Küpfers Scheiben in der Schmiedenzunft in Bern auf.
